Searching for Simple

In this recent time of reordering my life, I find one of my desires is to live more simply. As a family, we have been purging ourselves of possessions and consumer thinking. (We've been doing this slowly, its not always very easy). I'm tired of life being about, "What can I get now?" Ugh, its a never-ending path. You never arrive anywhere, you just keep going and going! Meanwhile, your money does run out and time with loved ones runs out, too. Get me off that road!
Its strange to ask yourself, "What are the most basic things I want for my life?" For me, two of those things are living more naturally and living more artfully. It seems those two things go hand-in-hand. I found this video today, and it gives a glimpse into what joining those two things might look like. Maybe you've seen it before but I still love it! (Except in my version, there would be a little less facial hair)

Inspired By: Federico de Vera

Sometimes I run across the work of a designer and wonder if we were separated at birth. That's how I feel about Federico de Vera. His embrace of eclectic styles, bold colors, portraits and a few outrageous objects, really connects with me!

I'm inspired to take my love of portraits off of my computer bookmarks and transfer it to my walls. Just go with it, right? Why do we get so caught up on what other people think of our homes?

Happy Things

Its a bit of a dreary day here in Houston. We haven't had much sunshine and I'm ready for Spring. Luckily, Pinterest must have known I needed a pick-me-up, because I found many treasures there today. These random images make me smile!
  Love these two wonderful bedrooms!
My favorite find is the jewelry of Elsa Mora. I saw the one of a kind pendants above and fell in love. I linked over to the jewelers websites and found the image below. A Frida Kahlo inspired necklace made of paper. This makes me so happy, I could cry!!!

This would make a great wall treatment, inside a home. Love the colors.
My favorite silhouette, right now! I would like to wear a dress like this everyday:)
