Will Someone Come To The Rescue?

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This house is listed as one that can be renovated,
or "build your own dream". In Houston that means this house's time is ticking!
It has a hefty price tag, but it is gorgeous.

This is such a great kitchen. If only it could be saved from the unfortunate slate floor.

So many wonderful possibilities!!

It has so much potential! It makes me sick to my stomach that our city seems to have such a tear down mentality and lack of appreciation for our architectural history. I really hope that someone comes along and makes this house truly beautiful instead of turning it into another atrocity.

Paloma: Your preaching to the choir on that. As much as I love this town, I never cease to be shocked at the lack of preservation!

Oh, I could almost cry after seeing this... I was so hoping that hefty price tag was somehow closer to a dream price, like oh a million, which is still far far out of our price range, but seems like a maybe one day dream... not that "one day" would be soon enough for this place. I showed it to my husband, and we both wish we could save it. It looks gorgeous.

I am so with you and Paloma both... I haven't been here that long, but I already find the tear-down mentality disheartening. The sad thing is, the tear down mentality happens so many places in America (and I know it is happening in Memphis where my parents live.) On a whole, I feel like we lack the understanding of the value of historical preservation. So sad, but it sounds like I don't really need to have said any of that to you.

Sorry for the long comment-- here's hoping the house finds an owner who will appreciate it for what it is.

What a great mid century built into a gorgeous piece of land...It would be such a shame to disrupt the original home/land vibe!!

check this out if you haven't already...

Oh my god, so much potential there.

I'd snap this up in an instant if it were closer to home.

And if I had a few mil to throw around ;)

Linda, what a fascinating article!! It leaves me a little confused, though. Did someone buy it or not?
